Alongside international participants from countries around the world, NSSA participated in the capacity building training programme on Nanosatellites, organized by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), UNNATI (UNispace Nanosatellite Assembly &Training by ISRO), taking place in Bangalore – India.

The UNNATI Programme was conducted from 15th October to 15th December 2019 and courses included a combination of theoretical coursework during which participants are taken through basics of satellite technology in general and nanosatellites in specific and hands-on training.
Engineer Muneera Al Malki commented “It was a privilege for me to represent my country and attend such an interesting and important course alongside other participants sharing their vast experience in satellite technology.

As part of the theory classes, participants were introduced to the design aspects of satellites, the various subsystems of a satellite and their functionality, configuration evolution and post-launch mission operations.
Muneera further added “Most interesting was the hands-on training during which we were introduced to Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) of Nanosatellites in the labs of URSC”.

Dr Al Aseeri, NSSA CEO commented “I believe this promising program to be very useful for the participants, allowing the NSSA to fulfill its goals, specifically the initiative related to manufacturing and launching of nano satellites for research and capacity building purposes. Furthermore, I would like to express my gratitude to our sister ISRO for their great efforts and keenness to ensure the success of this program and do wish more participants join soon.”

Dr Al Aseeri added “Finally, I am very proud of our youth participants representing the Kingdom of Bahrain and the NSSA. They showed great passion for acquiring knowledge and modern science, and mastery and excellence of all such knowledge in record periods. I am sure they are an asset for NSSA for future projects to come.”
