The University of Bahrain and the National Space Science Agency announced their intention to expand cooperation between them in the fields of joint research and studies that contribute to stimulating scientific development, training and development, sharing resources, and implementing a series of joint activities.

The President of the University of Bahrain, Prof. Dr. Riyadh Yousef Hamzah, and the CEO of the NSSA, Dr. Mohamed Ebrahim Al-Aseeri, signed a memorandum of understanding for scientific cooperation between the two entities on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the university’s president’s office in Sakhir.

Dr. Hamzah stressed the importance of exchanging knowledge and experiences between the two entities, pointing out that there are opportunities to implement advanced training programs, participate in scientific events, and implement scientific research and feasible joint projects, which contribute to the advancement of scientific research in the Kingdom of Bahrain, enhance creativity and innovation, and keep pace with the latest developments. in the space field.

The agreement provides for the exchange of scientific knowledge and expertise, carrying out joint scientific research, organizing field visits, implementing specialized training courses and contributing to raising awareness of the importance of space science.

Dr. Hamza expressed his happiness at signing the memorandum of understanding, which will be a platform for launching qualitative programs and practical activities that will be organized by the two sides.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Ebrahim Al-Aseeri stressed the importance of scientific cooperation between the University of Bahrain, with its research and technical capabilities and extensive expertise, and the National Space Science Agency, which seeks to advance space science in the Kingdom of Bahrain and establish a sound infrastructure for space and Earth observation in order to Achieving comprehensive development and prosperity.

Dr. Al-Aseeri indicated that achieving scientific and technical development in line with Bahrain’s Vision 2030 requires the cooperation of various authorities and education entities in order to enhance and devote a culture of conducting advanced scientific research in systematic scientific methods, indicating that the Agency’s strategic plan 2019-2023 has given building national capacities in the field of space and its sciences a top priority, and that this memorandum of understanding comes as a practical translation to achieve the strategic objectives of the Agency, expressing his sincere thanks and gratitude to the University of Bahrain for its permanent cooperation with the Agency and its positive contribution to the advancement of scientific research in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding was attended by Prof. Dr. Wahib Issa Al-Nasser, Vice President for Academic Programs and Graduate Studies, and Dr. Muhammad Mustafa Al-Helou, Dean of the College of Science.
