Dr. Mohamed Ebrahim Al-Aseeri, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Space Science Agency (NSSA), participated in the World Space Forum of 2020.
On the representation of Bahrain’s NSSA at this forum, Dr. Al-Aseeri said: ‘The forum this year was held online by brothers at the United Arab Emirates Space Agency, in cooperation with the United Nations Outer Space Office Affairs (UNOOSA). This activity is a reflection of the efforts of the participating states and their keen interest in achieving sustainability in the space sector by adopting international best practices. The forum basically aimed at supporting the efforts made to achieve the sustainable development goals of the United Nations by the exchange of expertise, adopting best practices, enhancing cooperation among space agencies, ensuring the optimal global use of space discoveries and making proper use of space science and technologies to create a better future for coming generations.’
Dr. Al-Aseeri added: ‘The forum included activities and workshops on significant and various topics, including the role of the space sector in addressing climate change, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved in this sector, discussing the effect of the space sector on local and global economy in general, suggesting participations among the public and private sectors for the enhancement and growth of this vital sector.’
