In fulfilment of the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and in implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Commander of the Royal Guard, announced the launch of the project to build the first fully Bahraini satellite in the Kingdom of Bahrain, expected to be completed by December 2023. His Highness pointed out that this project is a distinguished achievement for the Kingdom of Bahrain, and will be implemented by a group of qualified and competent Bahraini youth in the field of space science and technology.

H.H. Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the great efforts of the management of the National Space Science Agency, which spared no effort to put the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain among the leading countries in the space sector through its ambitious projects, diverse participations and the research and studies it has produced and published in international conferences and refereed scientific journals.

His Highness expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Bahrain Space Team for their outstanding scientific contributions  and their unique innovations and determination to achieve everything that would raise Bahrain’s status in the space field.

For his part, Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohamed, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Space Science Agency, expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for his interest and continuous follow-up on the Agency and its national cadres, which is a motivation and incentive for the Bahrain Space Team to exert more efforts to implement this national project, the first of its kind on the territory of the Kingdom to establish a new stage in the Agency’s journey, and to be a starting point for its new strategic plan.

He stressed that what we are witnessing today of the achievements of the Bahrain Space Team, which was formed at the end of 2018, calls for pride in the light of the honorable scientific and technical achievements, pointing out that the Agency continues to exert efforts to achieve more, through initiatives and projects that will be announced successively, all of which will be implemented under the supervision and hands of Bahraini competencies that have been invested in during the past period.
