H.E. Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, met H.E. Mr. Dmitry Rogozin, the Director-General of the Russian Space Agency (Roscosmos), and his accompanying delegation at the Office of H.E. the Minister, in the Civil Aviation Affairs.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed E. Al-Aseeri, Chief Executive Officer of the National Space Science Agency (NSSA), and Dr. Mohamed Jasim Al-Othman, NSSA Board technical adviser.
At the beginning of the meeting, H.E. Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed welcomed H.E. Mr. Dmitriy Rogozin and the accompanying delegation. The two parties, then, discussed means of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of space science, research and various space-related applications. H.E. Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed commented: “The National Space Science Agency was established pursuant to a Royal Decree, and we are working hard to translate the vision of His Majesty the King, to position Bahrain among developed countries in this prominent field. NSSA is exerting great efforts to ensure that it is well-established on firm foundations. We pay full attention to the human component in terms of education and training; we also worked with certain universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain to enhance the role of scientific research in the relevant fields and look forward to working with Roscosmos and all those who preceded us in this field to acquaint the necessary global experience to build advanced infrastructure in the space field, such as the ground stations, centre for processing and analysing satellite data, and manufacturing satellites of various types and sizes.”
On his part, H.E. Mr. Dmitriy Rogozin expressed his thanks and appreciation for H.E. Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed for the hospitality and the efforts of the National Space Science Agency in supporting and encouraging cooperation with the Russian Federation, especially in training and capacity building in the field of space and related research.
