Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa is Deputy CE, Operations & Governance iGA. He began his career in the Central Informatics Organization (CIO) as a Network Engineer and executed the Government Data Network (GDN) project which resulted in linking all of Bahrain’s ministries together. He later became the Section Head of the Smart Card Initiative project which developed and deployed the national ID card using the Smartcard Technology.

In 2004 he moved to the Royal Court to set up the IT infrastructure and returned back to the CIO in 2006 to become the Director General of IT.

He also initiated and developed include applications for several critical government organisations, which enabled the eGovernment program to deliver eServices via the National Portal bahrain.bh by connecting and building systems in various organisations.

One of the most significant projects was the strategic initiative achieved by the organisation is to execute the IT shared services. Its goal was to consolidate and restructure all government IT systems to optimise its performance and efficiency, as well as improve integration between government agencies. He also established the government’s private cloud which is the foundation for the consolidation project in government agencies. He is currently leading the Government of Bahrain’s Technical team in migrating government’s IT services to AWS.

He graduated in 2000 from Suffolk University from Boston Massachusetts, USA with a Double Major in Accounting & Information Technology.
